What he didn't expect was to have to fight bloodlust every time he so much as caught a whiff of his delectable neighbor's scent or her bombarding him with questions every time she cornered him. If that's not bad enough a Master from his past has found him once again and is demanding his blood and is willing to do anything to get it, even using the exasperating neighbor that makes him feel more than pain for the first time in centuries.

Semoga pembaca blog Ren's Little Corner ga bosan saya review buku pararom mulu ya. Apalagi bahasa Inggris, hehehe. Tapi saya emang lagi pengen berbagi beberapa buku yang menurut saya mesti banget ini dibaca :D. Salah satunya adalah karya R.L. Mathewson. Saya sendiri adalah fans berat serial Neighbor From Hell dengan tokoh utama para lelaki yang doyan makan sampai mereka diban di banyak tempat di Amerika. Lebay ya? Ember, tapi cerita yang dibuat Mathewson emang lucu sampai bikin saya ngakak ngga karuan. Terakhir kali saya baca karya dia adalah Truce (review blog), dan sambil menunggu buku terbaru di seri Neighbor From Hell, saya nyobain serial dia yang lain. Dan karena lagi mood baca pararom, pilihan saya jatuh pada buku pertama seri Pyte/Sentinel yaitu Tall, Dark and Lonely.
Dibuka dengan menceritakan masa lalu tokoh utama pria yaitu Ephraim Williams yang harus menderita karena dirinya adalah seorang Pyte, vampire yang bisa berjalan di siang hari dan tahan terhadap salib atau air suci. Fast forward beberapa abad, dan kita akan dikenalkan pada Madison Soloman, heroine cerita ini. Madison selama beberapa tahun harus sabar menghadapi ibunya yang egois dan menjadi pengganti ibu bagi kedua adiknya (yang semuanya beda ayah), Jill dan Joshua. Beruntung nenek Madison menawarinya tempat tinggal. Sambil menjalani kehidupan barunya, Madison baru nyadar kalau tetangga sebelah kamarnya sudah ngga pernah keliatan, bikin kamar mandi mereka bau luar biasa dan kalau mandi lama bangeeeeet. Siapakah si tetangga itu? Jeng jeng jeng, ternyata Ephraim yang sudah berumur ratusan tahun dan kali ini menjadi detektif di kota setempat. Malangnya bagi Ephraim (atau Madison?), darah Madison terlalu enak buat Ephraim untuk dilewatkan dan bau darah wanita itu menggoda nafsu haus darahnya. Hmmm, merasa familiar dengan hal ini? ;)
